For some of the biggest and most important ceremonies, the Buddhist scriptures are carried outside of the monastery. Members of the community also take part in the procession, walking in line with the monks in their burgundy robes.

These are some of my favorite moments---watching monks and women in traditional dress fall into line and circumnavigate the perimeter of the monastery's property. Smiles, colors, tradition, reverence, honor, kindness. The movement and the radiance reminds me of the sun.
