New shoes and clothes for monks

THERE ARE SOME VERY HAPPY MONKS IN NEPAL.

Thanks to FC Boulder, Brian DiFeo, Mobile Media Lab, and the kind folks at Crocs, the monks of Matepani are starting the New Year looking fresh.

The arrival of shoes and gear was a big event for them --- and a great way to celebrate after many long days of puja ceremonies.

Crocs have become a footwear of choice for the monks, as the rubber material doesn't slip on the stones of the monastery during monsoon season.

And soccer, well, it's their favorite thing to do on their day off.

BEFORE: Many monks come from homes that cannot afford to send money for new clothes. Shoes and clothes are passed from one monk to the next, so young monks will wear whatever they get.

After seeing the monks with some pretty less-than-great gear of their own, Crocs and FC Boulder helped us put much better looking feet forward.

THE AFTER:

If you're interested in creative ways YOU can help the monks of Matepani, send us a note.

We have many projects in the works and are excited to help in whatever small way we can.

Next up.... solar. Stay tuned for updates!
